The MathCounts Team
For more than 30 years MATHCOUNTS has provided enriching, extracurricular opportunities to students and free, high-quality resources to educators. Every child is unique, but we believe all children are capable of seeing the beauty and joy of math, whether they come to us already passionate about math, or intimidated by it.
Since 1983, the Oklahoma Engineering Foundation has hosted the Oklahoma MATHCOUNTS program. Pooling resources from engineering and other STEM-minded industries, OEF has been able to engage over 15,000 students in this upper-level middle school math competition. Countless thousands have benefited from the MATHCOUNTS materials made available to every middle school in Oklahoma.
Coaches can be either teachers, math enthusiasts, or parents! Knowledge of mathematics is helpful, but not required. Resources from many sources are available to help coaches with a mathematics understand at any level. All you need is a willingness to help! Coaching workshops are offered annually in the fall in both Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
The state of Oklahoma is divided into 5 regions. The regional competitions are typically held in February.
